Abir Omar Cabur
A proud Syrian who loves her homeland deeply.
Abeer began her professional journey in 2002 as a partner in a multicultural kindergarten, a role she held for 12 years. The kindergarten focused on healthy food and hands-on crafts as core teaching tools, and it was recognized as one of the top kindergartens in Damascus. Because of this excellence, the U.S. Embassy selected Abeer to represent Syria in an early childhood education grant, during which she visited schools in seven American states.
Between 2009 and 2011, Abeer worked as a partner, designer, and artist at a store called "Peekaboo," where she designed children’s bedrooms and painted murals at Al-Bairouni Hospital for children with cancer.
In 2012, she launched the "Yasmeen" project for hand embroidery, through which she trained large numbers of displaced women—and some men—from Syrian cities and rural areas affected by the war. The Yasmeen project produced embroidery art pieces for all the rooms of Le Meridien Hotel in Bahrain.
In 2022, Abeer developed a new and highly detailed technique for embroidering on wallpaper. She also designed luxury chocolate boxes for the renowned "Ghraoui" brand in Qatar and Dubai.
Abeer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science. Her ultimate goal in all her work is to create beauty and deliver excellence. She firmly believes that Syrians possess some of the most skilled hands in the world, but they need access to modern techniques and loving guidance to contribute to society’s development and regain their dignity through sustainable livelihoods.
Abeer found that Silaa shares the same vision and values, which is why she became part of its mission—dedicating her experience and resources to supporting women’s right to grow and work.

The Syrian crisis impacted the lives of families and caused waves of displacement. Many families lost their breadwinner, and many women and even children became homeless and heads of households overnight with no support.
Many people raced to help. Community donations and personal initiative alone could not satisfy the enormous need. We believe in sustainable support and choose to do that by teaching able young women and men embroidery: a profession that is so linked to Syrian identity and folklore.
We started from scratch in a workshop that included few young women. We taught them how to make embroidery using traditional handloomed fabrics and locally sourced materials. We wanted our customers to buy special handmade products because they love them not only because they want to help.
For over 10 years, hundreds of women, men and teens, learned how to make perfect handmade embroideries and crochet products. Some worked individually at their homes in less-than-optimal living conditions. They were able to prove that life and beauty triumph over trials. It took talent to start but perseverance to excel. This is the story of Jasmine Artwork.

Jasmine crafts are made by the caring hands of displaced women. In 2011, 8 young women joined our atelier to support their families. Today a workforce of 110 women continue to weave stories of resilience and beauty into beautiful tapestries of colors and artwork, proudly showcasing their resilience and making a difference in the lives of their communities.

سورية تعشق الأرض.
بدأت عبير مسيرتها المهنية عام 2002 كشريكة في روضة أطفال متعددة الجنسيات، واستمرت في هذا العمل لمدة 12 سنة. اعتمدت الروضة على الأكل الصحي والأشغال اليدوية كأدوات تعليمية، وتم تصنيفها كواحدة من أفضل رياض الأطفال في دمشق. وبناءً على هذا التميز، اختارت السفارة الأميركية عبير لتمثيل سوريا في منحة تعليمية ضمن برنامج التعليم المبكر، حيث زارت عدداً من المدارس في سبع ولايات أميركية.
بين عامي 2009 و2011، عملت عبير شريكة ومصممة ورسامة في محل "بيكابوو"، حيث صممت غرف نوم للأطفال، كما قامت برسم جداريات في مستشفى البيروني لأطفال السرطان.
في عام 2012، أطلقت مشروع "ياسمين" للتطريز اليدوي، والذي من خلاله درّبت أعداداً كبيرة من النساء وبعض الرجال المهجرين من مدن وريف سوريا بسبب الحرب. ونفّذ المشروع لوحات فنية زينت غرف فندق الميريديان في البحرين.
في عام 2022، طورت عبير تقنية جديدة بالتطريز على ورق الجدران، باستخدام دقة عالية. كما صممت عبوات شوكولا فاخرة لماركة "غراوي" في قطر ودبي.
تحمل عبير شهادة بكالوريوس في العلوم، ويكمن هدفها في جميع أعمالها في خلق الإبداع وتقديم عمل متقن. تؤمن بأن السوريين يمتلكون من المهارة ما يؤهلهم ليكونوا من أمهر الحرفيين في العالم، إلا أنهم بحاجة إلى تعلم التقنيات الحديثة، والتوجيه بدافع المحبة، للمساهمة في تطوير المجتمع واستعادة الكرامة من خلال مورد كريم للعيش.
تتوافق أفكار صِلَة مع رؤى وأهداف عبير، ولهذا أصبحت جزءاً منها، لتسخير خبراتها ومواردها في سبيل دعم حق المرأة في التطور والعمل.

أثّرت الأزمة السورية على حياة العائلات وتسببت بموجات من النزوح. فقدت العديد من العائلات معيلها، وأصبحت العديد من النساء، وحتى الأطفال، بلا مأوى ومسؤولين عن إعالة أسرهم بين ليلة وضحاها دون أي دعم.
تسابق الكثيرون لتقديم المساعدة. لكن التبرعات المجتمعية والمبادرات الفردية لم تكن كافية لتلبية هذا الاحتياج الهائل. نحن نؤمن بالدعم المستدام، واخترنا أن نقدمه من خلال تعليم الشابات والشباب مهنة التطريز: وهي مهنة متجذرة في الهوية السورية والفلكلور المحلي.
بدأنا من الصفر، في ورشة صغيرة ضمت بضع شابات. علّمناهن كيفية التطريز باستخدام الأقمشة اليدوية التقليدية والمواد المحلية. أردنا من زبائننا أن يشتروا هذه المنتجات اليدوية الخاصة لأنهم يحبونها، لا فقط بدافع الرغبة في المساعدة.
على مدى أكثر من 10 سنوات، تعلم مئات النساء والرجال والمراهقين كيفية صناعة التطريز اليدوي المثالي ومنتجات الكروشيه. عمل بعضهم بشكل فردي من منازلهم رغم ظروف المعيشة الصعبة. وتمكنوا من إثبات أن الحياة والجمال ينتصران على المحن. الموهبة كانت البداية، لكن الإصرار هو ما قادهم إلى التميز. هذه هي قصة "ياسمين آرت وورك".
اليوم، يضم فريق "ياسمين" 110 حرفيين تحفزهم القوة، وحب الحياة، والأمل بمستقبل أكثر إشراقاً. يعكس كل واحد منهم رؤيتنا بكل صدق.
منتجات "ياسمين" تُصنع بأيادٍ محبة من نساء نازحات. في عام 2011، انضمت 8 شابات إلى مشغلنا لدعم عائلاتهن. واليوم، تواصل 110 امرأة نسج قصص الصمود والجمال في قطع فنية وتطريزات مفعمة بالألوان، تعكس فخرهن بقوتهن وتُحدث فرقاً حقيقياً في مجتمعاتهن.
